========================= Winter Storm Version 1.2 a Battlefield 1942 map by RussianComrade ========================= Gametypes: Conquest, Coop/SP Conquest Map Type: Head-On Map Size: Small Build time: A couple of weeks total Tools Used: Battlecraft 42 V2.1, winRFA, PackRFA, Adobe Photoshop, Gagagu's Material Editor, Botinator Requirements: I don't think there's any, but I have Bf1942 Version 1.6, so if it crashes or something doesn't appear properly you may want to get the patch. Vehicles: - T-34 - T-34/85 - Panzer IV - Tiger - Willy * - Kubelwagen * - Stationary MG42 - Stationary Browning - Katyusha - Wespe - Hanomag * - M3A1 * The * means they're special ones for this map - see below. /|---|\ ABOUT \|---|/ This is the latest version of my map Winter Storm, offering some changes and improvements over the first release. You don't need the original, this is a total replacement. - APCs are now mobile spawn points; this only applies to humans. Bots won't spawn in them. You can select them like a normal spawn point. - The Kubelwagen now has a machine gun as well to counter the Jeeps. - The AI now works properly for the machine gun jeeps. They'll happily get in the back seat and shoot away (They actually prefer shooting to being a passenger). - The texturing has been redone - the steep walls along the road are more rocky now - The lighting is now dimmer and softer so it looks more like a bleak winter day - There's some more vegetation in the areas you can actually see or go. - Shuffled some spawn points around and added some so spawn camping at the two ends of the bridge isn't so easy anymore - before you know it, you'll have AT rockets flying at you from every direction. - AI has been redone with different strategies and pathfinding. - A light tank at each of the main bases has been changed to an SPA. Two Katyushas spawn for the Russians but there will be only one Wespe (since the Wespe has range advantage). - Vehicles no longer take deserter damage, i.e. they don't blow up if you get out and leave them lying around. Handy for hiding a jeep for quick getaways. - Hanomag and M3A1 APCs are now mobile spawn points. Bots can't spawn in them, only humans. As above, they don't explode when left around, which means unless someone finds it and blows it up you've got a moveable spawn point. Kinda like in BfV. - Two cars at each of the main bases. - Ticket bleed now occurs by holding 3 control points - your starting base plus the two 'Bridge' CPs. - The two starting bases are uncappable. - There are now XPack medic boxes around the place. - Redid the ingame map to correctly show out-of-bounds areas. /|---------|\ INSTALLATION: \|---------|/ Move 'Winter_Storm.rfa' to your levels directory, in my case: C: -> Program Files -> EA Games -> Battlefield 1942 -> Mods -> bf1942 -> Archives -> bf1942 -> levels If there's already a file of the same name, you will need to remove it. /|-------|\ LEGAL STUFF \|-------|/ You can give it out to your friends, edit it, or make new maps based on it but just don't take credit for stuff you didn't do. I wouldn't appreciate that. This map has my permission to be on Battlefield 1942/Vietnam/2 Files only. If you want to stick it on your site, ask me. I don't bite. If this busts your computer in any way, I'm not responsible. Sorry, but it was your decision to put it on your comp. /|---|\ CREDITS \|---|/ EA/Dice, for making the game. My friends, for urging me to release this improved version. Gagagu, who made the Material Editor. I used this to paint the out-of-bounds areas on the map - much quicker and more efficient than if I hade done so in BC42. Benji and HellishER for their SP creation tools, and FourCentsShy for GenPathMaps, which I edited the pathfinding with. /|------|\ CONTACT ME \|------|/ Any problems, suggestions, or comments email me at: russian_comrade AT hotmail DOT com
