The US Marines are returning to an abandoned outpost in the Pacific but the Japanese have launched an attack of their own. Capture and hold both the Island and Island Defenses to trigger ticket bleed. Map made by RussianComrade.
========================= Take the Island a Battlefield 1942 map by RussianComrade ========================= Gametypes: Conquest Map Type: Head-On Map Size: Small Vehicles: - Enterprise - Shokaku - Hornet - Hiryu - LCVP - Daihatsu - Stationary Browning - Stationary MG42 - Defgun - Zero - Val - Corsair - SBD - Elco 80 - Type 38 - Bofors (AA_Allies) - Flak 38 /|---|\ ABOUT \|---|/ In early December 1941 the US Marines left a small island outpost as it had no real strategic value against the rising threat of the Japanese, who were posed to strike more important locations like Wake Island and the Philippines. However, with the fall of Wake the abandoned island became a medium-priority target for the Japanese, as a useful location to run further operations from. The Japanese dispatched a carrier to nearby waters, along with some of their patrol boats. Unknown to the Japanese, however, the US Marines were rushing back to the island in hopes of holding off the advancing forces. The result would be a devastating head-on confrontation between both sides as they fought over the small island. (That's entirely fictional by the way) When initially spawning at the start of a round in this map there are multiple locations to choose from: your carrier's two/three spawn points, plus another spawn point in the top right corner (US) or bottom left corner (Japanese) where each side has a small island with two patrol boats and an AA gun. There is also an island near each carrier with AA and a Defgun. Get scouts to artillery spot the Island and use these defguns to pound it, while the AA gun holds off any bombers. Once you capture the LZ control points on the beaches (Axis LZ or Allies LZ) you will be able to spawn there. Note that only the Axis team can capture the Axis LZ, and only the Allies can capture the Allies LZ. You can't respawn at the Island or Island Defenses control points. In SP the two LZ control points will already be under the control of their respective teams, and they are uncappable. I had problems getting the landing craft to work properly so I had to go for carriers without landing craft and start both sides on the island itself. /|---------|\ INSTALLATION: \|---------|/ Move 'Take_the_Island.rfa' to your levels directory, in my case: C: -> Program Files -> EA Games -> Battlefield 1942 -> Mods -> Bf1942 -> Archives -> bf1942-> levels If there's already a file of the same name, you will need to remove it. /|-------|\ LEGAL STUFF \|-------|/ You can give it out to your friends, edit it, or make new maps based on it but just don't take credit for stuff you didn't do.
