After over 3 months of brutal fighting in the Winter War, Finland and Soviet Union signed the Moscow Peace Treaty. This treaty forced Finland to cede vast amount of land near the border. Within these territories located an idyllic, formerly thriving, Karelian town on the coast of lake Ladoga named Sortavala. Some time after the peace treaty, Finland joined the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union in order to reconquer the lost territories. It's 15. of August 1941 and Finnish forces have reached the perimeters of Sortavala. Battle for the town has begun!
