In the cover of night, Soviet forces have managed to carry out a surprise attack over a lake with the intention on conquering Finnish defensive positions. Finns aim to repulse the Soviet attack

On August 23rd, Finnish Infantry Regiment 47 (the regiment of Vallila) reached Kilpeenjoki and faced Soviet 3rd Battalion of the 147th Infantry Regiment. A fierce battle for the area has begun. Some Finnish units have gone around the main Soviet line and are attacking the rear positions of the enemy battalion with a help from the Flamethrower Tank Detachment.

After over 3 months of brutal fighting in the Winter War, Finland and Soviet Union signed the Moscow Peace Treaty. This treaty forced Finland to cede vast amount of land near the border. Within these territories located an idyllic, formerly thriving, Karelian town on the coast of lake Ladoga named Sortavala. Some time after the peace treaty, Finland joined the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union in order to reconquer the lost territories. It's 15. of August 1941 and Finnish forces have reached the perimeters of Sortavala. Battle for the town has begun!

In an alternative timeline, after German offensive towards Moscow was halted, Wehrmacht high command decided to concentrate it's efforts to Leningrad.
