Despite the Germans had it not easy to break through the defense, they have capture Ramskapelle on October 30, 1914, that located just behind the flooded battlefield & the railroad. Three Belgian infantry regiments along with two French units, were ordered to attack & capture Ramskapelle. But a German machinegun near the windmill did stop the attack. The next day, the Belgians & French tried again to conquer the village, with success."
